Preliminary Agenda

Fall 2016 Chapter 10 Rally

Subject to change

Location and Dates

The Fall 2016 Chapter 10 Rally will be from Thursday 27 October until Monday 31 Oct at the Red Oak Ranch RV Park in Hempstead, TX.  52715 US-290, Hempstead, TX 77445  About a 2 hour drive from Rainbow's End, NW of Houston.  $30 per night.  Pull through spaces.  We will collect payment and pay as a group Friday morning.  Cash or check, no credit cards.  Our Rally registration form will request details on your rig including type,  length and amps needed.  Registration forms will be provided at the Chapter 10 lunch on September 9th and provided on line next week.  I do not think cabins are available.  I will do some research on motels/hotels in the area for those like me that do not have a rig.

Costs

Rally fee is $10 per person ($5 for Chapter 10 and $5 for CARE).
Newman's Castle is $15 per person including lunch
Peckerwood Garden is $10 per person.
RV Park  $30 per night/rig.

Agenda

Thursday Arrival
Night - Let's Eat Out (LEO) at Hempstead Seafood and Steak.  Stephanie and Ray Borgman our Wagonmasters ate there with another group several years ago. They have a separate room that can easily accommodate us and the food, service, and prices are good.

Friday
10:30 am Get tickets at bakery in Bellville for castle tour.  Cost $15 includes box lunch.

Night BYO BBQ Bring your own meat (or vegetarian selection) to cook on the BBQ along with a side dish and/or dessert to share.

Saturday
10:00 am. Peckerwood Garden tour.  Cost $10 per person (10 person minimum for the group)

Evening Crockpot or Instant Pot Buffet/Potluck with a few sides and desserts.

Sunday
Breakfast - Men's Pancake Breakfast.  All invited, men do the cooking though the women often pitch in.
Morning - For those interested we will pick a local church and attend morning service.
Afternoon( (2:00 pm?) - There is a lavender farm in the area,  but two wet seasons have been hard on the plants.  They have a nice gift shop and some animals as well.  They do not offer a tour and they do not charge admission.  There are other things to see in the area also (antique shops, galleries, etc.)

Evening Meatloaves (from Stephanie) and leftovers provided by all.

Monday
Morning Hitch Up breakfast provided, donuts or pastries.

Both tours involve walking and will take an hour to an hour and a half.  There are a few spots along the way to rest, but not enough seats for everyone to sit at once.  Stephanie and Ray may bring their sling chairs.  The woman at the garden told Stephanie many of their tour groups are older people who seem to manage with little difficulty, but she also mentioned rocks and roots so Stephanie thinks sturdy shoes are essential.

Game playing and visiting are always integral to the Rallies and will be included in future revisions to this Agenda along with the time for our business meeting.

Registration deadline Oct 21.  I plan to go.   If you plan to go let me know as soon as possible, by doing so you are not making a commitment.
